Directions for Use
Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. Give as late in the evening as possible to prevent accidents during the night. May take several days of treatment before urinary incontinence improves. Usually need to treat long term, but some pets may only need to be treated for several months or seasonally.
Special Precautions
Side effects when using Proin may include restlessness, irritability, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure and loss of appetite. This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Do not use in animals with glaucoma, enlarged prostate, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, heart problems or high blood pressure. Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals. Do not give this medication with ephedrine or epinephrine and do not give within 2 weeks of using a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as selegilene. Use caution when this medication is given with digitalis, NSAIDs such as aspirin or Rimadyl, tricyclic antidepressants such as clomipramine, and beta blockers such as propranolol. Always tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what other medications your pet is taking.
