Banamine Paste is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory recommended for use in horses to alleviate inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders. It may also be beneficial for colic.

 

This product is made by Merck. Flunixin, the active ingredient in Banamine, is designated as Class 4 by ARCI. 

 

The recommended dose in horses for musculoskeletal disorders is 0.5mg per pound once daily. The Banamine Paste syringe, calibrated in twelve 250lb weight increments, delivers 125mg of flunixin meglumine for each 250lbs. One syringe will treat a 1000lb horse once daily for 3 days.

The effect of Banamine Paste on pregnancy has not been determined. Studies to date show there is no detrimental effect on stallion spermatogenesis with or following the recommended dose of Banamine Paste. There are no known contraindications to this drug when used as directed. This product is not for use in horses intended for food. Keep away from children. Not for food producing animals.
